Haihaisoft has reached a major development milestone for DRM-X 6.0: the next-generation Multi-DRM platform has passed its latest internal testing phase.
The DRM-X Multi-DRM platform currently brings Microsoft PlayReady, Google Widevine, Apple FairPlay Streaming and Huawei WisePlay together through one unified backend. Major platform capabilities are now operating in tested environments, including both software-based DRM and hardware-backed protection on compatible devices.
Internal playback testing has demonstrated stable, smooth viewing across supported platforms and device categories. This progress moves DRM-X 6.0 closer to its planned public beta, currently estimated for September or October 2026.
One Multi-DRM platform, four major DRM technologies
Modern streaming services need to reach browsers, phones, tablets, televisions and streaming devices without building a separate video protection workflow for every ecosystem. DRM-X 6.0 Multi-DRM infrastructure is designed to place that complexity behind a consistent service for content packaging, secure key management, DRM licence delivery and playback policy.
Cross-platform playback
Unified protection across different operating systems, browsers and device classes, with smooth playback validated in current test environments.
Software and hardware DRM
Software-based coverage for broad compatibility, plus hardware-backed security and secure media paths where supported by the DRM and device.
Unified licence delivery
A consistent backend for authorising playback requests, applying policies and routing licence operations to the appropriate DRM service.
Cloud delivery and CDN
Upload packaged content to DRM-X 6.0 cloud storage and deliver it efficiently through CDN-enabled distribution workflows.
Package video locally or use the DRM-X 6.0 cloud
The DRM-X 6.0 backend works with the DRM-X CLI Packager to support flexible content-protection models. Content providers can package media within their own environment when local control is preferred, or upload content into DRM-X 6.0 cloud storage for an integrated Multi-DRM workflow.
Package
Use the DRM-X CLI Packager locally or begin from the managed cloud workflow.
Protect
Apply content keys, DRM signalling and playback policies through the DRM-X 6.0 backend.
Deliver
Store content in your chosen environment and distribute efficiently with CDN support.
This choice allows OTT services, online education providers, broadcasters, film distributors and enterprise video platforms to align DRM packaging with their security, infrastructure and operational needs. Teams can retain local control over source media and packaging, use the managed DRM-X 6.0 cloud experience, or combine cloud services with their preferred CDN delivery architecture.
Secure key management designed into the platform
Secure key protection remains central to DRM-X 6.0 Multi-DRM. The platform is designed to keep content keys and sensitive credentials protected throughout packaging, storage and licence delivery, using controlled server-side workflows, wrapped key handling and production key-management controls.
ISO/IEC 27001-aligned security principles
DRM-X 6.0 is being engineered around information-security principles that cover the control plane, customer projects, content operations, key custody, licence delivery and supporting cloud services.
- Tenant and project separation
- Least-privilege access control
- Protected keys and secrets
- Short-lived authorisations
- Auditable security events
- Controlled production access
Certification status: DRM-X 6.0 is designed around ISO/IEC 27001 security principles. Haihaisoft and the platform are not currently represented as ISO/IEC 27001 certified; certification remains pending completion of the required ISMS work and independent audit. Read the DRM-X 6.0 security and ISO 27001 readiness overview.
Progress toward beta
Passing this internal testing milestone marks an important transition from core integration work toward broader validation, beta readiness and customer evaluation. Engineering will continue to focus on reliability, security testing, playback compatibility, Multi-DRM integration, documentation and operational readiness.
Four-DRM integration
PlayReady, Widevine, FairPlay Streaming and WisePlay connected through the unified platform.
Internal testing milestone
Major features operating, with software and hardware-backed DRM paths and smooth playback in tested environments.
Estimated beta: September–October 2026
The target remains an estimate and may change as engineering, security and platform validation continue.
DRM-X 6.0 is being built to help content providers protect premium media, simplify Multi-DRM operations and deliver reliable playback across browsers, mobile devices, smart televisions and streaming platforms—all through one secure, scalable service.
DRM-X 6.0 Multi-DRM frequently asked questions
Quick answers about supported DRM technologies, content packaging, playback security and the planned beta release.
What is DRM-X 6.0?
DRM-X 6.0 is Haihaisoft’s cross-platform Multi-DRM platform for content packaging, secure key management, playback policies, licence delivery, storage and protected video playback. Explore the DRM-X 6.0 platform or read the Multi-DRM product overview.
Which DRM technologies does DRM-X 6.0 support?
DRM-X 6.0 currently supports Microsoft PlayReady, Google Widevine, Apple FairPlay Streaming and Huawei WisePlay through a unified backend.
Does DRM-X 6.0 support both software and hardware DRM?
Yes. DRM-X 6.0 supports software-based DRM for broad device compatibility and hardware-backed protection where the DRM technology and playback device provide it.
How can content be packaged and delivered?
Content providers can package media locally with the DRM-X CLI Packager or use DRM-X 6.0 cloud storage and managed workflows. Protected content can then be distributed through CDN-enabled delivery.
When will the DRM-X 6.0 beta be available?
Haihaisoft currently estimates a DRM-X 6.0 beta release in September or October 2026. The timing remains subject to continued engineering, security testing and platform validation.
Is DRM-X 6.0 ISO/IEC 27001 certified?
No. DRM-X 6.0 is designed around ISO/IEC 27001 security principles, but Haihaisoft and the platform are not currently represented as ISO/IEC 27001 certified. Certification remains pending the required ISMS work and independent audit.
