Practical anti-piracy guidance
A stronger protection strategy starts before encryption
Piracy prevention is not a single switch. The strongest results usually come from combining encryption, license control, endpoint checks, visible deterrence, and traceability. Here are five actions we recommend reviewing this month:
1. Bind access to real users and devices. Use license profiles and flexible rights management with clear expiration, device limits, playback restrictions, and account synchronization to reduce unauthorized sharing. |
2. Treat screen recording as a primary risk. For high-value video, training, PDF, and web content, enable screen recording prevention and review display-output policies. |
3. Make leaks traceable. Visible, dynamic, and hard-to-remove watermarks discourage redistribution and help identify the source of leaked content. |
4. Reduce risky playback environments. Virtual machines, cloud PCs, remote desktops, HDMI output, wireless mirroring, and secondary displays can increase recording risk. DRM-X 5.0 display output restrictions help content providers reduce these risks. |
5. Protect more than video. Content value often lives in PDF, HTML, JavaScript, images, internal documents, courseware, and company assets—not only media files. See HTML encryption and the automatic batch encryption tutorial. |

DRM-X 4.0 upgrade policy
To thank existing customers for their long-term support, Haihaisoft offers a smooth “dual-platform parallel” transition plan.
| First-year offer: after upgrading to DRM-X 5.0, customers only need to pay for DRM-X 5.0 in the first year, while DRM-X 4.0 will be provided free of charge. |
| Ongoing policy: after one year, customers who wish to retain DRM-X 4.0 service only need to pay 20% of the DRM-X 4.0 cost, with annual payment required. |
This policy helps reduce migration cost while giving teams time to test, deploy, and gradually apply the new DRM-X 5.0 capabilities. Read the DRM-X 5.0 upgrade guide.
