Auckland, New Zealand - 3 August 2026 - Haihaisoft is developing DRM-X 6.0, a powerful next-generation Multi-DRM platform for securely distributing premium video across web browsers, mobile devices, smart televisions, streaming devices and other supported platforms.

The platform is being developed for customers at every stage of growth. Independent creators and small businesses will be able to begin with a simpler managed workflow, while online education providers, OTT services, film companies, broadcasters and enterprise content platforms will be able to integrate scalable licence services and APIs into their existing systems.

The Google Widevine and Microsoft PlayReady demonstration environments are now almost ready. Haihaisoft currently expects to launch the first DRM-X 6.0 beta in September or October 2026. This remains an estimate while engineering, security testing and platform validation continue.

A unified Multi-DRM platform for modern streaming

Different devices and operating systems depend on different DRM technologies. Android and many web environments commonly use Widevine, Microsoft ecosystems use PlayReady, Apple platforms use FairPlay Streaming, and Huawei devices may use WisePlay. Developing separate encryption, policy and licence systems for each DRM can increase cost and complexity.

DRM-X 6.0 is being designed to place that complexity behind one consistent platform. Customers will be able to manage content identities, encryption keys, playback rules, packaging workflows, users, projects and licence delivery through a unified customer console and platform API.

Unified licence delivery

One gateway for authorising playback requests and routing them to the appropriate DRM service.

Flexible policy control

Playback duration, licence expiry, offline rights, device limits, output protection and revocation.

Developer integration

APIs and guided workflows for websites, OTT services, mobile apps, LMS platforms and cloud storage.

Scalable service design

A path from managed protection for smaller teams to high-volume licence delivery for large providers.

DRM-X 6.0 builds on Haihaisoft's more than 20 years of experience in video DRM and digital content protection. Customers using the current DRM-X product family can also explore the DRM-X official website and DRM-X 5.0 security features.

Designed around ISO/IEC 27001 security principles

DRM-X 6.0 is being engineered to support an information security management system aligned with ISO/IEC 27001. Security requirements are being considered across the control plane, content operations, content-key custody, licence delivery, customer console and supporting cloud services.

  • Tenant and project separation for customer data and content.
  • Least-privilege identity and access controls.
  • Secure handling of encryption keys, credentials and secrets.
  • Short-lived packaging sessions and playback authorisations.
  • Protected APIs, rate controls and bounded licence requests.
  • Security-event logging, monitoring and request correlation.
  • Controlled production access and documented change management.
  • Dependency scanning, release evidence and incident-readiness processes.
Certification status: DRM-X 6.0 is being designed around ISO/IEC 27001 security principles, but Haihaisoft and the platform are not currently represented as ISO/IEC 27001 certified. Haihaisoft plans to pursue certification after the required ISMS scope, policies, risk assessments, operational evidence, internal audits, management reviews and independent certification audit are completed. Hardware-backed DRM security for premium content

DRM-X 6.0 is intended to support the strongest security level available in compatible devices and DRM environments. Where supported, content keys and sensitive playback operations can be protected through trusted hardware, secure execution environments and secure media paths.

Hardware-backed protection can provide a stronger foundation than software-only playback for premium films, subscription streaming, early-release media, professional training, live events, confidential enterprise video and high-value educational content.

1aimark forensic watermarking and leak tracing

DRM controls who is authorised to access content and the conditions under which it may be played. 1aimark forensic watermarking provides an additional layer of protection by helping content owners investigate the source of copied, screen-recorded or illegally redistributed media.

Multi-DRM encryption + licence control + hardware-backed security + forensic watermarking + content-leak tracing

With 1aimark integration, content providers can associate viewer-specific or recipient-specific forensic information with protected media. When a suspicious copy is discovered, the forensic record may help identify the account, user, customer or distribution event connected to the leak.

Built for small businesses and large content providers

Professional DRM should be accessible to organisations with different technical resources and distribution volumes. DRM-X 6.0 is therefore being designed to support a practical growth path rather than a one-size-fits-all deployment model.

  • OTT and subscription video services
  • Online education and e-learning platforms
  • Professional and corporate training providers
  • Film and television production companies
  • Movie distributors and digital-screening services
  • Broadcasters and live-streaming platforms
  • Sports and entertainment services
  • Independent filmmakers and content creators
  • Enterprises distributing confidential video
  • Government and professional organisations

Smaller teams will be able to use managed workflows without operating separate DRM servers. Growing and enterprise customers will be able to use APIs, advanced policies, audit information, storage integrations and customised deployment options. Haihaisoft also provides DRM integration services and enterprise DRM solutions.

Strong security with a better customer experience

Haihaisoft believes that strong content security should not make a platform unnecessarily difficult to deploy, manage or use. DRM-X 6.0 is being developed with a clear customer console, guided content-packaging workflows, practical APIs, demonstration players, policy-management tools and developer documentation.

The goal is to maximise the experience of both the content provider and the final viewer: customers should be able to protect and manage their media without operating multiple disconnected DRM systems, while viewers should receive reliable playback with as few unnecessary interruptions as possible.

Preparing for the DRM-X 6.0 beta

Development is continuing, with the Widevine and PlayReady demonstrations almost complete. The planned beta programme will allow selected customers, developers and technology partners to evaluate protected playback, test integrations, provide feedback and prepare future production deployments.

With unified Multi-DRM technology, hardware-backed protection, ISO/IEC 27001-aligned design, 1aimark forensic watermarking, scalable cloud services and support teams in New Zealand and China, DRM-X 6.0 aims to provide a complete content-security platform for organisations ranging from small businesses to large global content providers.
